Welcome to my page!

I have been teaching at Penta Career Center since 2009. I completed my Master's at The University of Toledo in Education (summer 2015)! My undergraduate degree is in Biology.

My area of expertise is in exotic animals. I previously worked for
The Toledo Zoo in the Education Department where I was the the Collection Manager for about 9 years. Of my many responsibilities while I was at the zoo, training was certainly my favorite! I also had the wonderful opportunity to help create the "new" Children's Zoo which is now called Nature's Neighborhood. Due to this industry experience, I feel I bring a unique teaching perspective to my classroom.

When I was a youngn', I had a wonderful opportunity to attend a unique high school like Penta Career Center. The high school was called the Animal Conservation and Care Program (now called the Zoo Academy) at the Cincinnati Zoo. It was a school for juniors and seniors in high school. The zoo school was a hands-on experience that I will never forget.

I am hoping to create some of those same experiences for my students. I want to provide abundant opportunities for my students to work alongside exotic animals and gain a wide range of positive experiences. I try to instill my passion for nature and science into my students. I am a very energetic teacher who expects a lot out of her students.

I LOVE being a teacher. Every day is different. My students keep me on my toes and are a blast to work with. I love to watch them mature and grow in their knowledge of animal care. It is extremely rewarding! I have two dogs: Rowan and Hyla. Rowan was born March 10, 2019 and is a Toy Poodle. Hyla was born June 18, 2019 and is a Belgian Malinois.
